Innovation & Knowledge Transfert

ATS is committed to transferring the knowledge and technology developed in the laboratory to industry, society, and other research organizations. This is achieved through various processes, such as the Knowledge Transfer Group, which facilitates the transfer of CERN technologies to industry partners, and the CERN Entrepreneurship Meet-Ups, which promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the high-tech industry.

Additionally, the Technology Transfer Office provides support to CERN researchers who want to commercialize their technology, and the ATS-DO oversees the Knowledge Transfer and Innovation Group to ensure effective transfer of CERN technology to benefit society.

Medical and Biomedical Technologies

Horizon projects – ATS Participats in European Union projects creating links and collaborations with European universities, research institutes, laboratories and industrial partners, complementing the main R&D programmes of the Organization. Some of the projets are

  • iFAST Innovation Fostering in Accelerator Science and Technology aims to enhance innovation in the particle accelerator community, mapping out and facilitating the development of breakthrough technologies common to multiple accelerator platforms. The project involves 49 partners, including 17 companies as co-innovation partners, to explore new alternative accelerator concepts and advanced prototyping of key technologies.
  • HITRIplus project to integrate, coordinate and strengthen the research on ion cancer treatment by developing a set of new technologies to progress ion therapy defining technical aspects and future scientific research programs.
  • PRISMAP, the European medical radionuclides programme to promote innovation, facilitating the development of novel technologies common to multiple accelerator platforms.
