BE Department

The BEAMS Department is headed by Dr O. R. Jones, comprises some 500 people and hosts the Groups in charge of accelerator design, operation and optimisation, accelerator controls, survey/alignment, secondary beam lines and experimental areas for the whole CERN Accelerator complex.
The BE Department is responsible for the commissioning, operation, and optimization of the performance of the LHC, along with the operational performance of the accelerators forming the injector complex of the LHC, and the operation of their experimental areas.
